Skin Biostimulation Treatments Melbourne

What are Biostimulators and Biorejuvenation Treatments?

These treatments involve the use of injectable prescription-only products designed to support skin quality by stimulating physiological processes such as collagen production and tissue hydration.  These treatments may improve skin texture, firmness, and overall skin health rather than to add volume.

Treatment is provided following a medical consultation to assess suitability, individual skin concerns, and potential risks.  Results are gradual, vary between individuals, and are not permanent.

As with all injectable medical procedures, treatments carry potential risks and side effects, which will be discussed prior to treatment.  All procedures are performed by Cosmenon in accordance with Australian regulatory standards.

Cosmenon offers Patients two Biostimulator Treatments

…neither of which we can mention here due to AHPRA guidelines.

We chose the treatments we offer based on laboratory and patient-biopsy proven results. There have been no reported serious complications across multiple countries, and are considered safe and well-tolerated by patients.

These products contain Hyaluronic Acid, a hydrating molecule naturally present in the skin. Our latest treatment also contains a blend of six Amino Acids involved in the production of proteins.

These molecules and proteins help to reduce inflammation, and bind to receptors on cells that stimulate their function. In combination, this improves the physiological function of your cells and the extracellular matrix.

What is the Extracellular Matrix (ECM)?

The Extracellular Matrix (ECM) is the structural framework that surrounds and supports the cells within your skin and other tissues. It is a complex network of proteins and signalling molecules that maintain tissue strength, elasticity and hydration.

In the skin, the ECM is primarily located within the dermis and is responsible for firmness, resilience and overall skin quality.

Cosmenon offers treatments aimed at supporting the ECM so that your skin improves or maintains these desired qualities.

Deliberately causing skin barrier trauma seems counter-intuitive

With ageing, environmental exposure and lifestyle factors, the ECM gradually degrades. Collagen production declines, elastin becomes fragmented, and hydration levels reduce. This contributes to:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Reduced skin firmness

  • Loss of elasticity

  • Changes in texture and tone

Most skin clinics offer treatments that cause controlled inflammatory injuries to the skin. This triggers:

  • Inflammation – Localised, temporary inflammation signals the body that repair is needed.

  • Proliferation – Fibroblast cells are activated and begin producing new collagen and extracellular matrix proteins.

  • Remodelling – Over time, collagen fibres reorganise and strengthen, improving skin texture and firmness.

At Cosmenon we use non-surgical aesthetic procedures to trigger this process at the cellular level, avoiding inflammation.

Don’t get us wrong - we love micro needling and peels.

There is definitely a role for energy-device treatments when performed by experts. We believe however that these are usually performed far too often for the dermis and skin barrier to handle.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

Depending on the outcome of your consultation and assessment, we will determine what areas of skin may benefit from this kind of treatment. Common areas that can be treated include the face, under eye area, neck/décolleté, and the back of the hands.

Is There Any Downtime?

There can be pain associated with these treatments. It is advised you avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medications (including Fish Oil) for 2-3 days prior to your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising. Taking paracetamol immediately before your appointment can be helpful, and Dr Raj will apply topical numbing cream prior to the treatment.

Following treatment, you may have lumps at the injection sites, and bruising can occur. These lumps can last for up to 3 days. Detailed aftercare information will be provided to you.

What Are the Costs?

The cost of treatment depends on the area treated and the number of sessions required. Commonly, the initial treatment is a series of three sessions spread over a period of months. As this is a prescription-only medical treatment, pricing is provided following a consultation with Dr Raj.
